I've been busy over the last couple of months with curation of the “Audio Stream” (presentations related to sound) for the New Zealand Game Developers Conference, which I also attended in Wellington.
Earlier in the year, I handled production sound on acclaimed local Dunedin Director David Hay’s short film, Canvass. But mainly I've been hard at work supervising and designing sound for (mostly) New Zealand developed game, Dread Hunger, which entered Early Access a few months ago. I've been working on this game for a bit over a year. It has been steadily picking up a strong following and favourable reviews. Aside from sound effects design and implementation, and a bit of voice productions, on the music side of things I recently worked with local Dunedin musician, Rennie Pearson and an old friend from California, John Goff ("Cascadia Bagpiper") to create the sound of musical performances you might hear aboard a 19th century British Royal Navy ship. You can sometimes hear these musical performances during the card game that precedes gameplay once our next update is released in the coming weeks. That's it for now. Thank you for reading my first ever Blog/News (or is it News/Blog?) post!
